Formal Gathering, No. 3 — abstract acrylic painting with bold black silhouettes, white ground, golden yellow shapes, and a single slender red form

Formal Gathering, No. 3 is an acrylic painting that extends the visual and conceptual aims of the series. The familiar vocabulary of bold, geometric silhouettes is carried forward, now expanding beyond the edges of the panel. Unlike the thin, rolled surfaces of earlier works, the paint here is built up through palette knife work, creating an increasingly tactile surface where some areas verge on relief, evidence of compositional changes painted over.

The stark black-and-white ground once again anchors the composition, while sharp intrusions of golden yellow cut through and across the forms, set in tension with a single, slender red shape that rises in counterpoint. The interplay of these saturated colors against the monochrome backdrop heightens the sense of confrontation and balance, lending the piece a more commanding, declarative force.
